What you get
This guide evolved out of 50 collective years of varied experience. We wove together what others have espoused, lessons taught by leaders from diverse fields, and our own hands-on experiences.
The format to organize your group and its meeting is simple. This basic design is used in many group settings because it creates safety, order and participation. You may alter it, but you have a proven design to begin with.
We will provide updates to this design. We want you to help us co-create the upgrades to it. This manual to group success is thorough, but straightforward. The experience from tens of thousands of hours of working in groups went into creating this model. You benefit from the experiences of other groups. You will also be on our mailing list for updates and micro-community building tips.
Creating your own micro, tribe, clan, or group is a rewarding task. This handbook will guide you through how to enroll your fellow members, how to structure your first meeting, how to create a path that will take your group through its startup phase, and perhaps the most critical issue – how to create a safe and powerful venue.

What others are saying about the guide
The micro-community I am a part of has been a powerful mirror for me to see both the changes that I needed to make in order to be successful. Even more important, is the reflection I received on how powerful and talented I already was. Myself view had been skewed by my judgments of how I “should be” in comparison to main stream media and my peers. Through my micro community, I began to see and implement my inherent value.
Another huge gift of the micro-community experience is being able to help others grow and succeed. The joy I receive from this experience is beyond words!Within 5 months of being a part of my micro-community in Sandpoint, ID, I had created the foundation to launch www.remarkablefathers.com which is the foundation of my vision and intent to empower men to become remarkable fathers and to expand that for generations to come. I am currently shooting a documentary film around this intent. What I have found is through the process of working with my micro-community, I have found a deeper calling inside myself.

The years of meetings I shared with my micro-community of women, was like none I have experienced with any group before–there is no equivalent anywhere in our society that serves or benefits people in this way. The safety and unconditional acceptance I felt within my group allowed me to be completely myself–no guards up, filters on, or second-guessing myself. I did and achieved things I never dared or dreamed I could before, because of the support of my circle of women.
Committing to spend that time each week was more than worth the effort, because I always came away with more energy, excitement and love for my life no matter how tired I was going in. I was always able express my true and most current feelings and thoughts. Tackling my fears, taking on challenges in my personal development in our creative, loving environment became joyful and fun for me, where before I avoided, dreaded or tried to pretend everything was fine.
The depth of love, trust, honesty, humor and creativity we shared was healing, invigorating, inspiring, empowering and magical. The beauty we created as a group and individually, through our work and personal journeys touched the lives of everyone around us for the betterment of all.

One of the best, most joyful parts of my week is the time I spend with my micro, a group of men that I have been meeting with for over six years. We have formed a really tight group, where each of us has explored the depths of our beings, and have been seen, loved and appreciated for the men that we are.
Easily the biggest challenge for my wife and me has been raising our son who has autism. Before I got involved in my micro, I felt alone, sad, angry and blocked from fully living. With the support and reflection back from the men in my micro community, I have come to grow and expand the creative, passionate and visionary parts of me that I had put on hold years ago, as my wife and I hunkered down in the overwhelm of autism. Today, I have come to celebrate the gifts of autism, and to be in awe of my son, who is truly a shining being. Best of all, I now know and accept that my son’s light is a true reflection of me.
In my micro, I have learned to accept my own light, and to trust my ability to create with it. Directly as a result of my growth in my micro community, I have enrolled in a master’s program, I bring more love, truth and light to the work I do with teens, and my marriage is more honest and open than it has ever been. I now create in my life what I want.
